Saved at the age of five by Gerald Heimlock, a grand inquisitor of the Republic, you got drafted alongside your childhood friends Valeria and Edric into a military academy. With time, you turned into lethal weapons put to good use by the Purifiers, the army in charge of defending the Republic against the supernatural.
The Brotherhood of Dawn infiltrated the Crimson Keep, a mysterious republican fortress lost among the northern deserts known as the Red wastes. While the purpose of the attack was unclear, the republican Senate voted a retaliation act against all known locations of the Brotherhood. Led by Grand Inquisitor Heimlock himself, troops are soon deployed on the Coast of wrecks near the city state of Stormfall to terminate a camp of Brothers. You are, with your two childhood friends, part of operation Dawnbane and ready for battle.
The city-state of Stormfall is reaching a breaking point. Greed has led Merchant-Prince Damaskus to rent its Radiant Armada to a foreign power, leaving the city ill-prepared for the starting crisis: something is stirring in the deeps, subterranean creatures known as Svriirs are fleeing to the surface through aggressive raids, ravaging the farmlands around the city. Trade has slowed down to a crawl as massive amounts of refugees cower behind the city gates. An ideal recipe for chaos and famine that you will experience first-hand.
An unholy alliance known as the Covenant of the Blind aims to bring back Ahriman, the Fallen Duke of Fury. He used to be the Primordial of Peace, siphoning and jailing all the wrath of the world within himself to bring respite to it. But now that abyss drove him mad, this energy stirs within him putting in his hands destructive powers beyond measure. Should the Covenant succeed, the world would not recover."
