World Heroes 2 (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
370A playthrough of Takara's 1994 versus-fighting game for the Super Nintendo, World Heroes 2.
Played through on difficulty level six with Fuuma.
I absolutely adored the port of the original World Heroes to the SNES - I thought that they did a fantastic job despite the obvious cuts that had to be made in the move from the Neo Geo. While I could say the same about World Heroes 2 - it's even more impressive for how much of an advancement the sequel represented that so much of it was crammed into a SNES cart - unlike World Heroes, this one feels like a bit too much had to be sacrificed. Don't get me wrong - it plays smoothly, just about all of the moves are here, and it absolutely makes for a fun fighting game - but still, the presentation loses all of its epic bombast, and with it much of its personality.
So yeah, the game is at its core quite well-done, but no matter how valiant an effort was put forth, it's probably the worst way to play the game. Of course the Neo Geo version reigns supreme, but the PC Engine version also trumps this one in just about every conceivable way.
Still, it's quite good in it's own right. While I'd recommend the NeoGeo version first and foremost, you'll find a good fighting game in any of its ports.
