World of Battles Morningstar by Frogwares - Tarmack
World of Battles Morningstar is a medieval battle strategy simulator. It was released on Steam April 25th 2012 and is tagged exhaustingly as a free to play strategy massively multiplayer game. It is definitely free to play and has strategic elements but I didn't run into any massively multiplayer portions. It does involve team combat though.
The graphic style is not terribly high quality but games in this genre like the Total War series often sacrifice graphics for performance so they can show off massive on screen battles. In the multiplayer team battles I saw as many 7 different armies each with multiple battalions on the field at once. The music is not memorable but you do get to choose from 8 different races for your army.
I'm not a fan of the Xbox Live points style monetization, requiring purchase of points in numbers not even with the transactions presented to players which is likely to keep me away from the buying side of this free to play title. All in all it is a fun game and with a price tag of free it is definitely worth trying out.
