23World of Warships Gameplay Tips: Furutaka Class Cruiser
In World of Warships gameplay the Furutaka cruiser is a low tier ship, but she can turn the tide of a battle with a skilled captain.
When fully skilled up, the WoWs Furutaka cruiser has six 203mm canons, two sets of three torpedoes and a scout/attack aircraft with marginal anti-aircraft support.
To win in World of Warships gameplay with the Furutaka you have to know the cruisers strengths and weaknesses inside and out.
In World of Warships the Furutaka’s turrets are extremely slow. You need to prepare for battle by bringing all the turrets to one side before engaging your enemy.
Plan on using HE weapons on everything unless it is another cruiser of equal or lower tier than the Furukama. When you do engage a lower tier ship in World of Warships you can switch to AP, but keep in mind this round works best at 10km or less. With good aim, you can hit citadels which is something most cruisers in this tier can’t do.
You can hang back and pick ships off at a distance with the Furutaka, but it is not recommended since you don’t have the AA to protect carriers.
The Furutaka has fairly good armor so it doesn’t hurt to get in there and brawl it out. Remember you have torpedoes with a range of 6km, so use them when you need them.
Ultimately the Furutaka cruiser is a solid ship once you learn how to use it.
Note: Wargaming has planned to make some changes to this cruiser, notably the turret traverse time.
Furutaka History
Built as a high-speed heavy cruiser, the Furutaka was one of two ship built in her class designed to counter US and British cruisers.
In one of her few successful missions, the Furutaka found herself supporting the invasion of Guam during WWII. Other missions, including the Battle of Coral Sea and Battle of Savo Island, were not as successful. The Furutaka eventually met her fate at he battle of cape Esperance. After taking hits from a torpedo and 90 shells the Furutaka sank stern first into the ocean.
