Ape has 400% short interest or more than 4x the float currently shorted! But, the SEC is currently doing something about it (apparently).
Yahoo is currently showing 481% short interest for APE, or 2.5bn shares shorted, which lines up well with the estimate of 2bn synthetic shares.
This is likely caused by funds failing to deliver, failing to report shorts and failing to report options trades, all leading to billions of synthetics having been created.
Currently, none of the brokers/data providers know what the real data is/know what to report, thats why there's so many different data points.
However, the SEC has listed AMC as under investigation and the short selling investigation is also on its next leg.
