I had an interesting experience some time ago. One of my audio cables broke (the return line was somehow broken), so the left and right speaker worked, but I had some cut out audio (like how playing stereo music on surround sound then cutting the front speakers.) but it also had a noticeable hum. After much experimentation, I was able to recreate the hum easiest to record by plugging in a PSU to the wall and resting it on top of the PC. (The PSU was not plugged into the computer in anyway. I unplugged everything attached to the computer except the stereo cable. The computer was not even powered on.)

I am still not sure to this day why this happened, but after replacing the cable that goes out to my stereo, I have not had this problem at all. Anyone have an idea as to what is happening here?
