Wyvern F-0 arcade 1cc
3A 1-credit clear of Wyvern F-0, played with WolfMAME 0.251. Score: 372,740. This game is a Xevious derivative, and doesn't live up to its inspiration. Given the stretches of downtime around bosses and the lower difficulty through most of the game it's basically Xevious For Tired People. But, there are occasional "oh, shit!" moments where the game suddenly threatens you from all sides, or fires off an ultra-fast spread-shot. As in Xevious, you can collect bonus items (even extra lives) by bombing particular ground positions. On my successful 1cc attempt, I hugged the bottom of the screen to ambush the final boss just as it spawned, and the end boss died almost instantly - I'm not sure if that's intended but I'll take it! My final score, 372,740, is a new record on MARP, dethroning the previous WR of 357,550.
