Vulgus arcade 1cc
5Got a 1-credit clear of Vulgus (romset [vulgus]), using WolfMAME 0.251, scoring 270,350 before a chain of deaths in 2-2 finished me off. You get missiles by collecting Pow icons, then fire off the missiles to quickly kill bosses - or to kill a line-up of enemies for bonus points. Here I collect most of the bonus points in the space section after the first planet, then focus on survival. This is Capcom's first arcade game and introduced the Yashichi (you know, that pinwheel-thing that's in Capcom games as a 1up or score item). Vulgus plays a lot like 1942 but it's not as brutally long and repetitive. Definitely a fun game to visit for a few plays. It's satisfying to get the feel of how the different enemy ships behave, and start to pull off escapes that would have seemed impossible on your first try.
