After years of doubts and false starts, X-Men finally debuted as a Saturday morning cartoon on Halloween day in 1992. It immediately pulled in a Nielsen rating roughly three times what was expected for any other show in a similar time slot, making X-Men an instant hit. Millions of kids and young adults, male and female, across the entirety of North American tuned in to watch the melodrama….. and they loved it. Soon X-Men was a true household name and every bit as popular as Spider-Man or the Hulk that came before them.
