Hello YouTube! I break the ice playing with Benedict. Match starts at 6:43. Plain and simple, I see him as a mid-range support Hero. My teammate can only choose ISIC at the moment, a defender/tank Hero type I plan to talk about in the next vid.
We face close combat/sword specialist Rath and Reyna, a support Hero capable of buffing the shields of allies.
I did not came flying totally blind into the fight however. Aside from taking a moment to understand Benedict's various traits and abilities here, I've already watched various vids about how to best built and play with him.
Still, these are not exactly pick-up and play characters. Actual practice gameplay is needed for one to get the hang of these complex Heroes. Fortunately, Battleborn features your everyday Capture mode, allowing one to concentrate on the Hero of choice while fighting AI Bots.
I started by getting used to the basic functions of his Rocket Launcher and reload plus, his mobility and evasive abilities: jumping and flying off, to escape those 'danger close' situations. Close range firefights should be avoided whenever possible.
Then, his homing 'skill' for his rockets. But when one activates that, the first 'blue' rocket that comes out is not guided. Only the normal ones that follow against targeted enemies.
Lastly, his Ultimate: a huge remote controlled/guided missile that apparently it's best used to clear out large groups of lightly armored targets, since when I used that here, it failed to kill a mercenary. It can also be used to take out troublesome turrets am thinking.
Where I stand with his Helix in this first practice round is using that to bolster his reload speed, one of Benedict's other weaknesses.
So, that pretty much sums up my first try with this Hero.
