XB1 Halo 4 MCC G11, 3P local splitscreen Infinity Slayer Custom Overwatch style test 1-3.
Hello YouTube! SSGL here with our first Halo 4 MCC gameplay on Monolith, mimicking popular hero shooter Overwatch. I play with the "Tracer" loadout.
Thanks to Halo 4's extensive Custom and Forge menus, I always find myself looking for new ways of setting things up to produce different kinds of gameplay that hopefully viewers would find entertaining. While it's true that building a map on Forge Island from scratch is out of reach, available time does allow me to put together a variety of simpler scenarios. Feedback and suggestions are always appreciated.
First off, this first variant preserves one of the default Halo 4 gameplay mechanics: shield regeneration. For the next variant on gameplay test 3, that is to be turned off in favor of placing Overshield pickups around = a more direct take on Overwatch I guess, given that there are Health pickups there.
There is nothing I can do about sprint. But radar was turned off and ammo was set to unlimited. Here, it was weapon/melee damage that got reduced to 50%. For variant 2, shields is to be doubled instead. So, there are multiple ways of making Spartans more durable, akin to the Heroes of Overwatch.
Shield recharge rate reduced to 10%, hence the no Overshield pickups.
There are however, two house rules that where necessary. One cannot pickup weapons from fallen enemies and one must choose the Ordnance supply that corresponds with one's "Hero" loadout, which are as follows:
For the "Soldier 76" loadout:
Saw - Frag Grenades - Mobility. Ordnance: Regeneration Field.
This Hero is described as the archetype and the recommended one for beginners, much like Oscar Mike in Battleborn. He wields a powerful assault rifle with an attached launcher. Unable to find something akin to his Ultimate, his Health "bubble" field was chosen instead. He is the only one who can sprint in Overwatch, hence the Mobility Tactical Package.
"Pharah" loadout:
Rocket Launcher - Pulse Grenades. Ordnance: Jet Pack.
A mid range support Hero that uses a Jet pack. Also carries some kind of gravity grenades. A pretty straight forward set to emulate.
"Tracer" loadout:
Suppressor - Sticky Detonator - AA Efficiency - Dexterity. Ordnance: Thruster Pack.
This one was trickier. With dual wielding long gone from Halo, Halo 4's fastest firing gun was chosen coupled with Dexterity. Meanwhile, AA Efficiency was paired with Thruster Pack, allowing for a series of jumps and hops in swift succession. Finally, her Ultimate translated to the Sticky Detonator. 'Bombs Away! Lol 😊
In games like Overwatch, Battleborn and most likely, Lawbreakers, each Hero has a number of cool-down abilities plus, a single 'Ultimate' ability. The Ordnance table here was used to allocate one of these abilities. The "Widowmaker" loadout I have planned has Promethean Vision, certainly a more direct match to that Hero's Ultimate, unlike the Ordnances here which in these cases, tied up with cool-downs instead.
The acquisition of Ordnance has been reduced from the default 70/30 to 50/0, for quickly calling availability.
The point system has been changed a bit from past gameplays, mainly stiffer penalties for suicides (-20/-50) and betrayals (-50/-100), and greater rewards for hand to hand combat kills (+5/+20) and assassinations (+20/+50).
