Sony have announced the playstation 4 (formally known to the world as Orbis) and I think it's safe to say that everyone is excited. There is rumours and speculation abound to when MS are going to announce the next generation XBox (the Xbox 720) and many are saying April.
But there are many things for Microsoft to take away from the aftermath of Sony's PS4 bombshell. Their honesty with the specs of the PS4 is a welcome change. For once those of us who care what's in the console now actually know for sure. We know the 8GB GDDR5 ram, the AMD graphics card and the Jaguar cpu that's powering it all.
Sony even went on record and told us there are 18 graphics cores, and we know they're running at 800MHZ. My point being - we know the real meat of the specs. We saw it in action, and gamers around the world said "OMG" when we saw Resistance and other PS4 titles playing.
Microsoft know that honesty worked well for Sony - and know that now gamers want that from their camp too. Will they get it? We know that with the specs flying around now that the Xbox 720 is behind the PS4. It has less graphics power and less Memory bandwidth.
Sony are appealing to the hardcore and core gamers. Those who likely care little about the kinect. They mention cool technology but stress the games. Something that many have been vocal that both MS and sony have forgotten about with the Xbox 360 and PS3.
With all of that said - Microsoft have some tough choices to make. They need to ensure that a great line up of first party games (like say Forza) are out on launch - but also that there are exclusive third party games, and that sony don't get too many "the next big game from Konami is exclusive to the PS4". It can't really happen right now.
There can't be any big RROD type events, and they need to expand heavily on the Xbox live Platform. So the question is - what can Microsoft do with the Xbox 720 that Playstation 4 isn't already doing.
That's just what we discuss - and I want you guys to leave your opinions below!
