Despite my efforts, however, and an incredibly solid performance from our squad, the experience doesn't seem to have helped develop any of our troops further. I can only hope that more training will, eventually, lead to a noticeable improvement...
While I've grown less and less interested in the Council's opinion of our work (what do they know? Safe behind their desks built of refined bureaucracy), I felt a little relieved that they have returned to heaping praise upon us. We still need them for the funding, if nothing else... though I've begun to wonder, could they really stop us taking what we wanted, at this point?
On an entirely unrelated (?) note, in addition to continued advances in weapons technology, not only has Revocane finished his extensive genetic modification treatment, but not more than a few minutes after Dr. Vahlen arrived to deliver the news, did she receive a call over the intercom to return to the Psi-lab. It was time for the first three volunteers to emerge from the tanks.
With a great deal of excitement, laced perhaps, with a little fear, we witnessed as Draig emerged from the test chambers and gave a display of his newly awakened powers. I must confess that I share a little of Dr Shen's concerns, but the possibilities of this new power are staggering. I suspect we've crossed a threshold here, and at the same time, witnessed the turning point of this war!
