Hello again.

While telling the story of rescuing Jane Kelly from ADVENT train, Bradford got himself thinking - it all was way too simple, way too predictable. Maybe his entire journey from XCOM ruins to this place, the Avenger assembly unit, was a master plan of the Ethereals. To torture him, to make him obedient on others, to be crushed by hopeless situation and be rescued just in time.

Leslie did see this look on her husband's face back when she found Bradford launching the suicide attack on aliens. She knew that John was thinking that all of this was just a great campaign to silence the opposition forever.

Several days after the story, Bradford was depressed. The depression caused some disruption between him and the others. Shen never liked seeing people sad - it reminded of herself when Raymond Shen died.

Then, Darrell Rutherford, the true friend of Bradford, went to him to check him up. Central officer was sitting on a sofa, slightly drunk, with beer bottles on a floor to match his mood. Having got his friend to talk, Rutherford didn't believe that John was that concerned about anything of this. "And the Commander... damn bastards, I couldn't get them in time before they snagged him away... If he was still with us, maybe their plan couldn't work out exactly as planned", - Bradford said with a drunk sorrow in his voice.

Despite the situation being quite sad, Darrell asked Bradford to tell him anything about the Commander. "Well, the Commander...", - John began, but then he got reminded of a huge artillery piece that they blew not too long ago. "The Commander would have loved that toy...", - John ended his thought. "What's this toy exactly?", - Rutherford couldn't get into the talk of Bradford.

This line was what, surprisingly, got Bradford more sober. He needed to talk about a spectacular show caused by hunting down a specialized artillery piece and destroying it to someone he could call a friend. About blowing up hell of a deck gun, as John could say.
