The threat in Nigeria has been neutralized, as Strike One clashed head-on with alien forces on the wreckage of an attacked highway in Lagos. The straight-on assault demonstrated that XCOM's second string soldiers have become highly capable of handling a hostile battlefield without support from the more veteran operatives; a good sign for the war going forward.
Research on the prototype MEC suit, as well as the interrogation of the Muton captive, continues at a steady pace. A raider is detected in the skies above North America and engaged by Captain "Lunchbox" Turnbull, who damages the craft but fails to successfully bring it down. Moments later, an alien Transport ship is detected. Command holds off engagement, and the ship touches down in Mexico, likely conducting research. With the opportunity to secure the large and valuable vessel to significantly bolster XCOM's resources on the line, veteran operatives suit up to deploy via the Skyranger.
