Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Part 96: The Swan Songs of Torna & Almalthus
4Now... after that whole shindig of getting my last Rare RNG Blades, *especially* KOS-MOS, I'm gonna go and finish off this game's plot once and for all. No more big breaks until after the end.

Past that elevator, and through another long hallway, Zeke recalled a more peaceful time he had with Amalthus at Indol. "Peaceful" being relative here, as Zeke was concerned with the struggle of refugees that had occupied Indol at the time.
They had a talk each other over killing people, either through their bodies or through their hearts. Amalthus had a hatred for all of Alrest, and that was a motivation into what he's turned out to be now.
In the present, Zeke saw a different answer from Rex about his thoughts on Alrest. Rex likes the world, even through all of its imperfections, because Alrest still offered amazing things that he loves about it so much. He also has similar thoughts about the world's people. Rex's thoughts were quite different from Amalthus', and Zeke was quite relieved to hear it.
He asked this because he was worried how both Rex and Amalthus are Aegis Drivers, and what such power like that could be used to change the world...

Further ahead, Jin sensed that Rex's team were getting close to his and Malos' spot. Malos wanted to hunt down the Architect with him together, but Jin had other thoughts in mind now... He sent Malos a head while he stayed behind to fight the team.
His thoughts... It was as if Lora was waiting for him to come home... He still remembered the time he was seen as a hero of Torna alongside her. He wanted to stay by her side no matter what happened, and even wrote a journal about his worry of his end in the past and some way he could avert it should Lora die...
Rex's team stepped in against Jin. Running his thoughts about his past, his present, and a possible future, he stood against Rex to see if either his ideals or Malos' were the ones that the world should follow going forward.

This is your final fight against Jin, and he will transform once again just as he did in his last two battles. If you had a strategy against him, before, use it again, here, and bring his HP all the way down!

The battle waged on. Jin and Rex unleashed even more of their own power. Jin wondered why Rex, a meme mortal would use the Aegis' power, from The Architect, to fight for other mortals and help them reach to Elysium as he is planning to, but Jin was against this, believing that humans will only destroy Elysium just as they've done to Torna.
But Rex wanted this paradise, and will live on to see this happen, even if it meant passing on his knowledge to someone else to oppose Jin being against his goal. He wanted Jin to realize that humans and Blades are more alike then they appear. Rex just wanted to know why The Architect made Blades like this.
Jin was damaged, and Akhos and Patroka came for his side, but Jin was done fighting. They wanted Nia to use her Blade powers to heal him.
Suddenly, when Patroka tried to go on, she saw herself suddenly attacked... by AMALTHUS! He even took her Core Crystal!
Amalthus gained a huge, menancing transformation by absorbing all of the Core Crystals he got from his Indoline cleansing procedure into himself. He saw himself as an agent of the Architect's will.
Pneuma, had realized a truth about him. Malos' desire to destroy the world... it wasn't out of his own desire, but something he inherited from Amalthus! He hated the world for trying to change itself outside of his own views of it, that's why he wants to kill everyone.
Patroka was now dead. That was his partner both before and after Jin rescued them. Akhos tried to fight back in a rage, but Amalthus grabbed. Even as everyone else fought back, Amalthus stole Akhos' Core Crystal, too, sealing his fate, as well.
As angry as this made Jin, Rex told him to stand down and let his team handle Amalthus, and break the curse that he started.

Amalthus is POWERFUL, especially with his Thousand Tentacles, but he can be beaten. Set up those Elemental Orbs, and ready a huge Chain Attack!

Amalthus started to feel cornered, but he was not ready to give up. If he couldn't meet the Architect, then no one else could, and threatened to destroy the entire World Tree by attaching himself to it.
Rex's Aegis was trying to protect Jin and his Core Crystal from Amalthus' grasp, even if it meant taking a nasty hit herself.
With how this reminded Jin of the time Lora sacrificed herself to protect him, he decided to now stand for Rex and protect his team. He was ready to sacrifice himself to help Rex stop Malos.
Jin unleashed so much of his power to destroy Amalthus, that it ended up killing himself. Almalthus, in his final words, sounded like he wanted this all along, as it meant he could finally be reunited with his mother, just as Jin could be reunited with Lora...
Oh, how things would've been different if Jin never met Malos...
