Part 5. I have mixed feelings about this game. I really liked the character building and loved exploring the world. The side quests are still your standard fare but there almost always is some sort of world building associated with them, which makes them worthwhile if you enjoy building up the colonies. In an added benefit to exploring and picking up seemingly random crap the game introduces a collectopaedia, which streamlines fetch quests and allows you to turn that crap into more useful items and accessories at any time. Complaining about difficulty is pointless since it's super easy to get over leveled by doing side stuff and exploring. Hell, even the super bosses were cake walks. I still had fun though. The graphics for the Switch are jaw droppingly beautiful and the music is just astounding. I love how there are 2 arrangements of each track for day and nighttime. There also is a huge variety in the environments you explore. You go through deserts and tropical beaches, hilly plateaus and snow covered mountains. It never gets stale. There is quite a bit of enemy variety but like most JRPGs there is a fair amount of re-skinning enemies. The story starts out interesting and I actually thought it was going to go somewhere truly interesting and it all crumbles down like a paper castle by about mid way point. It follows just about every anime trope you can think of and that made me sad because it really did seem like it was trying something different. I felt duped, but I only have myself to blame. And that brings me to what the weakest point of the game is and that is the story. There are so many points in the game that you just have to take for face value because if you put any ounce of thought into the plot it falls apart. There are so many holes in the plot Swiss cheese would be jealous. It honestly infuriated me almost to the point of outright quitting after a certain large story dump. It feels written by clueless teenagers that think these "twists" are edgy and unexpected and cool, but they consistently fall flat on their face. I really wanted to like this game more. I spent nearly 250 hours playing this and I don't regret my time. I just want a stronger story, for all of the build up it is just a large let down and that hurts. Is it too much to ask for a well told and coherent story in a JRPG? They have the character building down well. I want a story that doesn't fall apart if you apply logic. I could rant about this for hours and I won't. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
