Let's recap Fei's journey up to this point. Give me a minute here. He kills most of the people in his town, including his best friend and his fiance who may or may not want to elope with him. Dan has directly blamed him for Alice's death and he's not cast out of his hometown. He wanders through a forest where he has to rescue a mystery girl by using the machine that just slaughtered his best friend. He wanders into the desert to repair said machine because, reasons?, and encounters Grahf who says he knows his father, I mean his dad, and tells him he set him up to blow his hometown in an attempt to kill mother god. Then he gets captured by Aveh, attacked by pirates, almost drowns in sand and escapes only to get attacked again by Bart who then causes a collapse into a big cave. He meets an old man there who calls him the spirit of the slayer of god, and blacks out while defeating Calamity before he's finally rescued. All of this has presumably happened in like 2 or 3 days, with everything from Grahf on happening consecutively with no time for sleep.

So Fei is basically just mentally flatlining, not saying a word throughout the initiation to Bart's little pirate crew. Bart says some shit like "I would love to have your power" and Fei snaps. It's amazing he hadn't snapped before, really. He tells everyone to fuck off and leave him alone, that he didn't sign up for any of this shit and people need to stop using him.

Pretty damn reasonable of Fei to refuse the call after all that, if you ask me!
