"Mega Man 3" picks up a few months after Mega Man defeated Dr. Wily once again. Wily, now allegedly reformed, hopes to make amends with his former partner, Dr. Light. Together, they begin a new robot project (codenamed "Gamma") that will spread peace throughout the world.

However, 8 new Robot Masters suddenly go rampant and also steal the 8 power crystals that are needed to activate Gamma. Rock, now called into action once more, turns back into Mega Man. With his new robot dog companion, Rush, they work together to stop the 8 Robots and retrieve the crystals.

Along the way, he encounters a mysterious new Robot, who calls himself "Break Man"... what are his true motives?
