"Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" takes place in 2011, two years after the events of "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves". Nathan Drake, along with his partner and mentor, Victor "Sully" Sullivan, are currently on a business deal to sell Nathan's prized heirloom: the ring that was worn by his ancestor, Sir Frances Drake.
The buyer, named Talbot, is pursuing the ring for his client. However, it seems Drake and Sully has some history with Talbot's client, who was a pivotal figure in his past, and the main influence on how Nate and Sully first met 20 years ago, when Drake was a teenager. The ring of Sir Frances Drake is revealed to be a key to a part of a bigger mystery regarding one of Sir Frances Drake's secret missions.
Along with Sully, Nate is determined to solve that mystery, which will reveal to him another lost city encased with supposed treasure. In what is proven to be Nate's biggest adventure to date, it's a race against time... and Talbot and his client.
