Not having every single arte from the get-go isn't something I'm used to for runs but it's a welcome challenge and I'll try to make the most of whatever I end up having whenever I get to a boss until I have my entire kit.
For Greater Demon in particular I didn't have my usual bread-and-butter X1 Jude artes like Palm Strike, Rising Falcon, Beast, and Phoenix Plunge (I of course had Shattering Demon Fist but I didn't need it.)
But I did have some banger artes like Soaring Vortex, Steel, and Cerberus Strike.
So yeah, if my arte selection feels a bit lackluster in this fight that's because I had literally 6 artes mapped in total lol
Anyway, I start off the fight with some normals so I don't have too much endlag to deal with when the boss does its first action. This opener lets me react to and dodge every attack except for the tentacle slam since I don't have Mirage Assault yet, tho I'm not sure I'd be able to dodge it like that anyway.
If the boss uses Aqua Laser or Tentacle Rush I can just jump over it with an aerial normal and Swallow Dance, and if it uses Tentacle Bind I can just Snap Pivot it. In this take the boss ended up guarding which means I can bait the headbutt counter and dodge it with Snap Pivot.
After I've gotten an opening it's just a simple matter of staying in there and using knockdowns from Aqua Sweep and Soaring Vortex to give myself time to restore AC and use Steel to OTG so my subsequent staggered hits deal more damage, then bait out another counter, rinse and repeat. Not a terribly difficult fight all things considered!
