Ye Olde Games: Wacky Wheels
0Wacky Wheels is a kart racing game developed by Beavis-Soft, published by Apogee, and released in 1994 for DOS. Reportedly, the game was first taken to Copysoft as a prototype who rejected it, then released their own kart racing game in 1993 titled Skunny Kart based on the prototype.
Compared to other kart racing games like Mario Kart, this game is a bit lacking, but it's still a fun little game. The graphics and sound are both good, as are the controls. There's a lack of diverse weapons like in Mario Kart, and the weapons are removed from the map completely once collected. However, there are hedgehogs that can be collected throughout the courses which you carry over from level to level and can fire at other racers.
The game is no Mario Kart, but then again, few things are. Still, it's worth a look if you like kart racing games. Specially if your tech savvy enough to get netplay working in DOSBox.
