Yoogor is a puzzle platformer. The player controls Yoo who has to retrieve his lost shield and bring it back to his castle. The game is viewed from the side and the game world is divided into single screen sections. Yoo can walk left and right and climb platforms up and down but he can not jump. Climbing down from platforms is a must since any falling will lead to an instant death and game over. To make progress through the world the player has to open gates by activating switches found around the world. There are also locked doors that require finding a key. Potions can be picked up and after that Yoo can survive falling from a platform which is necessary when there is no other path to take. But there are also bad potions that can kill Yoo and which the player has to watch out for. Clues are given in the form of messages written for each screen.
