You Have to Win the Game Demonstrative Review
1You Have to Win the Game is a 2D metroidvania where you explore a cave to find items and powerups which allow you to reach new areas. There are many bells which act as checkpoints/savepoints. You die in one hit, but respawn instantaneously next to the last bell you touched.
Metroidvania like gameplay with lots of platforming as you explore to find secrets and figure out where to go next. It is short, which is good considering some of the achievements in the game which weren't too hard to get (playing 9-life Cat mode and 1-life YOLO mode). You can turn off the CRT screen filter which is on by default and turn on 16-color graphics so everything isn't all blue and pink.
There is no in-game map, so I often forgot which path I needed to take to go back to someplace I already visited. There's also no music, which isn't terrible, but odd.
