2Nestled in the basin of the River Sava with its several dammed lakes, Krško with its surroundings of vast fields and rolling hills covered by vineyards and orchards is a true gem still undiscovered by tourists. The wonderful varied natural environment, crisscrossed by well-tended waking paths and bicycle lanes, is ideal for all kinds of recreation. All of this is complemented by an increasingly rich oenological and gastronomical offer reputed predominantly for meat dishes based on krškopoljski pork and premium autochthonous wine varieties, most particularly the Blue Franconian. Krško is also easily accessible thanks to excellent international rail and motorway corridors passing through it, and other infrastructure catering to tourism is increasingly being developed.
