YouTube 10,000 View Threshold & Why That's Not a Bad Thing
YouTube posted in an article on 4/6/17 stating new regulations regarding monetization, in which new channels must reach 10,000 views before they can apply for monetization.
This change will allow YouTube to better monitor what channels are doing before they can monetize, and it allows YouTube to weed out potentially dangerous or violating material. The hope is that advertisers will return to support YouTube through video ads and the potential revenue loss of over a billion dollars will then be less than expected.
