YouTube Updates Downgrade Annotations
Ancient chronicle of how an undisclosed update in 2013 (and many others like it) breaks and downgrades features and interfaces on YouTube.
This is solely about the annotation editor changes of 2013.
Rarely is the question asked, "Why is a video from 2014 just now being uploaded?" The short answer is because I was using CamStudio back then, a bad life choice, and after 6 weeks of hacking the footage together I was exhausted and effectively abandoned the project.
But I have never been one to abandon projects, procrastinate, yea, but not in the malicious sense of wanting to see the very basis of a project decay into irrelevance and incomprehensibility, as perhaps considering the annotation "changes" of February 2019, this project's basis has. I don't care. I'm not going to throw out my work and I refuse to give YouTube a pass on their garbage decision making. I only wish I had made similar videos about their dozen other ruinous changes to the site, some much more broadly relatable than the issues of video editors working with annotation design.
