Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 remains one of the greatest RTS games of all time, and the additions offered by the Yuri's Revenge expansion boost it to an even higher greatness. In this video series we will play through both the Allied and Soviet campaigns on hard difficulty. All gameplay will be shown, including mistakes and failures, all accompanied with sarcastic commentary in an attempt to make you laugh as we relive a portion of our collective childhoods.

C&C RA2 is the 4th mainline entry into Westwood's phenominal Command & Conquer franchise. It's remembered fondly for its memorable missions, diverse unit selection and crisp responsive gameplay. Personally, I consider it a substantial step forwards in the world of RTS, and appreciate the variety offered by the game.

In the playthrough we'll be tackling both the Allies Campaign and the Soviet Campaign in tandem; playing both at the same time. I like to this partly for nostalgia's sake, but also it lets us see multiple points of view for the same in-game event. One video we may mount an attack on a location, and the next we play as the opposing faction defending it! All of this will be done on 'Hard' difficulty, just to add a bit of spice to proceedings.

Getting RA2 to run on modern hardware is a bit of a minefield, but assuming you own a legal copy of the game I would advise using CnCNet's launcher over at: https://cncnet.org/red-alert-2

You may be confused regarding the resolution of my videos compared to some others you've seen. Red Alert 2 can in fact be forced to run at whatever resolution you desire, although doing so has some adverse effects on the game's menus. It also changes how far you can see at any given time, and the relative size of the mini-map and sidebar. Most people will play on a 1920x1080 resolution, which is substantially more zoomed out than my videos. I, however, am playing on a 1024x576 resolution, which is a widescreen equivalent to the 768x576 resolution that the game originally ran at. Personally, I feel that this recaptures the original feel of the game more effectively, and is worth giving up the technical advantage of being able to see further.
