Crazy Taxi was released by SEGA in 1999 on its SEGA Naomi arcades and was a successful arcade cabinet.

Home versions followed on multiple platforms, starting with the SEGA Dreamcast port in 2000 and later, on PC, PlayStation 2 and GameCube.

In 2009 EA-Mobile (publisher) and Venan Entertainment Inc. (developer) released a mobile port for the BREW phones. A similar port was released by Gameloft for the j2me devices.

According to the archived EA Mobile web-site, the mobile version of the game features:
- Rich 3D graphics and audio which recreate the distinctive look and feel of the franchise
- 4 unique taxi cabs and drivers
- Unlockable Crazy Moves and tricks
- 3 gameplay modes - Arcade, Quick Play and Timed

The Crazy Moves consist of "Crazy Dash", "Crazy Drift", "Crazy Jump" (with help of a ramp or hill), "Crazy Stop", and "Crazy Through". These moves are taught and can be practiced in the Tutorial Mode.

As to my information, the game had to be available at least for the following models:
LG VX5500 (Verizon) - 176x220
Motorola V860 (Verizon) - 176x220
LG VN251 (Verizon) - 320x240 landscape
LG VX8575 (Verizon) - 240x400, touchscreen enabled
LG AX840 (Alltel) - 240x400, touchscreen enabled
Motorola ZN4 (Verizon) - 240x400, touchscreen enabled

LG AX840 version is featured here, as played on the Zeebo console and controlled by joystick.
