Previously, Link continued working on DLC side quests. He did the side quests "EX Strange Mask Rumors", "EX Treasure: Ancient Mask", "EX Treasure: Fairy Clothes", "EX Treasure: Twilight Relic", and "EX Treasure: Phantasma" from DLC Pack 1. He has also stocked up on Arrows and Ancient Arrows. Now, he will work on the side quest "EX Royal Guard Rumors" from DLC Pack 2 and begin exploring Hyrule Castle.
Link resumes at his house in Hateno Village.
He teleports to the Wahgo Katta Shrine at the Riverside Stable (time 0:58).
In the Riverside Stable, Link examines "Super Rumor Mill V4" (time 1:40). Traysi writes about Royal Guard uniform rumored to still remain in Hyrule Castle. She even has approximate locations for the set pieces. This updates the quest objective for "EX Royal Guard Rumors".
A thunderstorm rages outside, so Link stays until noon. This gets rid of the thunderstorm.
Link teleports to the Katah Chuki Shrine near the Quarry Ruins (time 3:15). After putting on Guardian-resistant gear, Link climbs the hill northeast of the shrine. He glides into the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins. Numerous Guardian Stalkers patrol the ruins. Link also has a random Yiga Footsoldier to deal with.
Near the western entrance to the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins, Link shoots a Glowing Eyeball to get rid of some Malice blocking the way in (time 6:33).
Link reaches the Central Square (time 8:13). What a sorry state the place is in!
From the Central Square, Link turns north. A Guardian Skywatcher patrols the sky over the main gate to the castle grounds. Link chooses to evade it.
Link enters the Hyrule Castle grounds (time 8:59). He uses Magnesis to swing open the gates. He can stay between the gates to avoid the Guardian Skywatcher detecting him.
LInk begins climbing the path directly ahead. There is a Decayed Guardian on the path, and there are also Guardian Turrets high on the walls to the right. It is easy enough to take care of the Decayed Guardian right away, but Link will have to avoid the Guardian Turrets for now.
Up the path, Link takes the first opening to the right (time 11:00). He can use Cryonis pillars to open the gates. Link explores the halls.
Downstairs from the first Lizalfos, Link can blast through a cracked wall (time 15:53). Behind the cracked wall, a chest contains 3 Ancient Arrows (time 16:09).
Link reaches the Guards' Chamber (time 16:32). He encounters a couple of Lizalfos on the upper level and a Moblin on the lower level.
On the lower level, Link can blast through some crates against the stairway (time 18:36). Under the stairway, he finds a chest that contains a Savage Lynel Shield (time 19:07). He drops an inferior shield so he can acquire it. Then, he photographs the Savage Lynel Shield for the Hyrule Compendium.
Upstairs, there was an EX chest on the shelf above the Lizalfos, along with a couple of bomb barrels. Link knocked it down. He now opens the chest to acquire the Royal Guard Boots (time 20:03). This is the first of three pieces for "EX Royal Guard Rumors".
Link can burrn some dried vegetation on the side of the upper stairway (time 20:36). This reveals another hidden nook. The chest here contains a Shard of Naydra's Fang (time 20:51).
Link can climb the wall past where the Lizalfos used to be to reach a treasure area. One chest contains a Silver Rupee, worth 100 rupees (time 21:50). The other chest contains 5 Bomb Arrows.
From near the entrance to the Guards' Chamber, Link can place a bomb barrel onto a pressure plate to open a door leading outside. Be careful of Guardian Turrets on the walls! Link goes into a small chamber opposite to rest until the rain stops. Then, he climbs to the roof to take out one Guardian Turret.
He goes back down long enough to take out a Glowing Eyeball and some Malice. Then, he climbs up to the checkpoint that the road passes through. The checkpoint itself is a Lynel's lair, so rather than go through it, he climbs the exterior. Along the way, he takes out another Guardian Turret.
Past the checkpoint, there is a lot of Malice blocking the way ahead. So, Link turns left and then left again across the bridge. He takes this path through an underpass that a Guardian Turret is monitoring. He takes out the Guardian Turret before proceeding.
