Previously, Link the wolf gathered the first fifteen Tears of Light in Lanayru Province. Then, the last one suddenly appeared over Lake Hylia on the map.

Before going after it, Link warps to Kakariko Village (time 0:36). There, he heads east to the Graveyard (time 1:51).

At night, one Poe is hanging out over the middle of the Graveyard (time 2:03). Link defeats it and acquires Poe's Soul #02.

To flush out the other Poe, Link opens the southwestern grave in the Graveyard (time 2:38). After defeating it, Link gets Poe's Soul #03.

Afterwards, Link warps to Lake Hylia (time 3:05). As he arrives, a disturbance is shown at the location of the remaining Dark Insect.

As he climbs onto the debris in the east of the lake, another scene takes place (time 4:16). Then, Link must engage his Senses to reveal the antagonist: the Dark Insect Queen. Link should try to remain on the debris as much as possible. This huge bug will power up and then attempt to sting Link. Link should evade and then attack. She will then zoom around through the water a bit, and Link should avoid this attack. When she emerges, she will attempt to sting Link again.

Once Link delivers three good attacks, she will go belly-up in the water (time 5:53). At this point, Link should climb on and charge-attack all six of her legs. If he does this properly, she will die and leave the sixteenth Tear of Light.

After the battle, Link collects this last Tear of Light (time 6:17). This fills up the Vessel of Light, and when it returns to the fountain, light returns to the area. Link meets Lanayru, a giant water serpent. The dark power that Link seeks is in the Lakebed Temple at the bottom of Lake Hylia. However, Lanayru tells Link a cautionary tale of the forbidden power. And this tale certainly has some disturbing points. This probably has much to do with the game's Teen rating.

When storytime is over, Link regains control in Lanayru's spirit spring (time 11:49). He heads outside to Lake Hylia (time 12:11). Now, it is nice and beautiful.

Following the bridges northwest from the spring, he finds the clowny weirdo Fyer (time 13:27). After griping about the Zoras, their rituals, and their temple inaccessible to humans, he offers to shoot Link to the height of fantastication. When Fyer's speech is over, Link chooses to "Give it a shot" (time 14:40). The price is 10 Rupees. When Link goes inside, Fyer fires up the cannon and BOOM--Link is shot to the upper level of Lake Hylia!

After his flight, Link lands at the target area outside the Flight-by-Fowl house (time 15:31). Midna suggests that now is the time to fulfill Queen Rutela's request to help her son.

On the lower level of the house, Link finds Falbi, a strange fellow who seems cuckoo for Cuccos (time 16:54). Falbi offers to let Link take part in Flight-by-Fowl for 20 Rupees. After grabbing a Cucco, Link jumps off and aims for the Isle of Riches northeast of Fyer's cannon. He controls his flight by pulling back on the control stick to slow his forward motion.

On the top stationary platform of the Isle of Riches, but below the rotating platform, he finds a chest that contains Piece of Heart #13 (time 18:43). One level below, the chest contains a Purple Rupee, worth 50 R (time 19:14). The next one contains a Red Rupee, worth 20 R. The last one contains a Yellow Rupee, worth 10 R.

Afterwards, Link pays Fyer 10 Rupees to get shot to the Flight-by-Fowl house again (time 20:03).

Upon arrival, Link heads outside (time 21:09). He is now at the Great Bridge of Hylia section of Hyrule Field, far above Lake Hylia. A couple of Golden Bugs can be located in this area.

At the northern edge of the bridge, the bug can be found on the eastern bridge pillar (time 22:16). It also likes to fly around. This is the Male Mantis.

As Link crosses the bridge, the swift postman approaches him (time 23:10). He delivers two new letters: "Good stuff inside!" from Barnes and "Now open for business!" from Lanayru Tourism. Barnes has developed a new type of bomb that can be used underwater, which sounds like a definite boon to Link's adventure. Meanwhile, two new recreational facilities have opened at Upper Zora's River: Iza's Rapid Ride and Hena's Fishing Hole.

South of the stone bridge, below the stump of a massive decayed tree, Link can find the Female Mantis on the southern side (time 26:22).
