Zellers Games on the Atari 2600 Part 2 (I visited a new Zellers in 2023🤯)
Zellers was a Canadian discount store chain operating from 1931 to 2013, and the current store-within-a-store operating within Hudson's Bay department stores since March 2023. Founded in 1931 in London, Ontario, and later based in Brampton, Ontario, the company was purchased by the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) in 1978. Zellers ceased operation in 2013 and its stores were closed. Following a stint re-using the brand name for a handful of HBC liquidation centers, a decade later in 2023, it was announced that the brand was relaunching within select Hudson's Bay stores.
In the 1980s, was selling Atari 2600 games. These games were not licensed by the companies from whom they were taken, were manufactured in Taiwan, and were often renamed. Eventually, Atari put an end to this and Zellers quit selling Atari 2600 knockoffs.
