For a first STG, it is decent, but I wouldn't blame you if you dismissed it in favor of Zenodyne R, which is an expanded remake of this one.
The scoring is very simple, just kill stuff and collect medals to raise the multiplier, losing a life will reset the multiplier and take some of your currently collected medals in the stage. 0 doesn't count as a life. Bombs get build up with medal collection. Blue powerup is a Medal Magnet, not a shield.
