ZPF (New Sega Genesis Game) - Pre-Kickstarter Demo
69ZPF (Zi-Pi-Fantasy) is an upcoming Sega Genesis shoot 'em up, created by the trio of Gryzor Rozyrg (Super XYX), Mikael Tillander (Twin Tiger Shark, Tänzer) and Jamie Vance, with publishing duties and physical goods production handled by Mega Cat Studios.
The demo completely flew under the radar for a whole month, as they have not announced it at all, not on social media or in their newsletter (at the time of demo's release, they were pushing the Sacred Line Genesis 2 Kickstarter), it wasn't until I saw @danmakuman on Twitter playing it, then I jumped on that immediately.
The demo consists of the first "acts" of the 3 worlds, from which the 3 player vessels come from. You only get to play one stage at a time, no continuous play.
Each vessel has a unique melee attack, with The Knight having the most straightforward and easiest to use, while Gladius has the most complex one to use effectively, Gold's whip is just strange.
You also have a shop system taken straight from Lords Of Thunder, which also gives you items to get double points, double medals, stage hints and even lowering the enemy aggression. This will all be in "Adventure Mode", in "Arcade Mode," you're only getting power-ups from the stages themselves, shops are completely axed.
The only gripe I have is that some of the mid-sized enemies might be a bit tanky on LVL1 Power, but I'd say it's only 5 of them and half of that number is from the Megalopolis stage, plus some of the AI being a bit braindead and simple, but otherwise, it's exactly what I was hoping for it to be.
