Zero Wing (Arcade) Unable To Break Through The Final Boss, Even With Save State Practice
This is the rare entry in my Impossible Scenarios playlist. Convinced that this final boss may not even be possible when starting fresh from the final checkpoint with no power ups. The only power ups I can get are 1 laser or 1 homing shot, the two orbiting units, but no speed ups. Running out of ideas at this point. This game may not get completed on the default setting. Im thinking the only way might be to carry over power ups from previous areas. It probably took 7-10 hours to get this far.
The big issues are that my ship is too slow to dodge the homing skulls and I cannot pump enough bullets into the skulls before they crash into me. Im unable to kill them fast enough. KEEP IN MIND, this is with a maxed out turbo setting on my Hori controller at the 24 shots setting. It would be impossible for a human player to fire this fast, as the game seems to have limiters in place when mashing, from what I could tell. Thats how fucked this section is. Possibly untested with no starting power ups. One of the most aggregious examples of this Ive come across, even for an old arcade game. Gradius gets crazy too, but this seems like it might actually be completely impossible. Waiting for some feedback from 1 CC players, to see if there is any strats I can use. There is a safe spot behind the final boss that requires destroying his weak spot first, to make room. I have been unable to put out that type of fire power with the power ups I have available, and again NO SPEED power ups available. If I come up with some new ideas Ill try this again, or maybe set the dip switch down to easy and start over. Not sure if that would make it beatable. Im not really looking to start the game over again on normal just to die once and have to reset again, when power ups are lost. That basically makes it the kind of game where NO deaths are allowed beyond a certain point, unless Im missing something.
