The final test of courage! On this episode of the speedrun guide we cover the entirety of Chapter 9! I thought it would be too long to put in one episode initially but it ended up working out so I left it all together.

In the overworld, don't forget to talk to the guard from the left, not the bottom!

For the 2nd blob room, I like to move a few pixels forward first before jumping to try and kill the blob we need to open the door.

for the c-serpent, my usual strategy to get the skip is:
- On room entrance, do buffered full hop up buffered full hop up left then walk to top right corner. Doing other things tended to left me jumping in the water in error.
- Once in the corner, face up or up right, as you initially take damage, jump UP + RIGHT and then switch to just RIGHT as soon as Mike stops flashing red from the damage. This is very lenient.

If you need a medicine, make sure to grab 1 or 2 at the check point. Better to have em and not need em than not have em and need em.

For the Zoda-X strat, it's the same strat as Ch. 4 but the 3 way shot can eliminate him super fast regardless of what pattern you get. The spawn he does on the left side is a little bit more tricky because you have to intentionally slow down your fire rate on him. The one on the center bottom is easier because you can just mash more or less and fire at an optimal speed.

For the Zoda-Y skip, I recommend you have 13 hearts or more to attempt. If you don't, this gets very tricky to execute because it becomes very hard to kill the boss.

Here is what you do:
- Defeat the boss as normal for Phase 1.
- AS SOON AS THE BOSS DIES IN PHASE 1 - walk all the way to the top of the room, then walk back down to the spikes and take damage. From the damage, buffer two full hop jumps up without moving any extra pixels. You are now on the right pixel to void over.
- Walk left or right to be directly below Zoda, then continue to face left or right.
- hold START down so that as soon as the game allows it you can pause.
- hold START again to buffer an unpause alongside an A+UP to jump up with a full hop.
- Somewhere before you get to the boss, do another buffered pause/unpause
- If done correctly, you should void on Zoda-Y.
- From here, just stand at a distance and kill zoda-y. If you stand on the edges of the room, there is a good chance he will shoot feathers at you one tile over. If this happens and you are pinned against the wall, you can unload on zoda for free as nothing will hit you. The only caveat here is the bats being in your way.
- Once phase 2 of the boss is defeated, head to the left side of the room and continue to hold left.
- When you transport to the dragon room you will be out of bounds. Hold left to walk across the bounds to the other side of the room, walk till you get two tiles into the solid ground, then walk diagonally down left. This should trigger the wrong warp exit if done correctly.
