Here in Zombies Ate My Motherland, the player's main task is to control this Russian guy and defend himself from hordes of zombies. The player must shoot as many zombies as possible before the timer runs out. These zombies will drop stars. Collecting these stars will help the player unlock new weapons and purchase upgrades. Other defensive weaponry can be purchased too using the stars to protect the Russian's wooden house. Crates will fall down from the sky. Opening these crates will add parts for the player's secret vehicle. If not, they will only give extra grenades, stars, and health packs.

Zombies are great for gaming, and practically every genre has been invaded by the mindless, shambling atrocities of nature. And the side-scrolling shooter is definitely not one to miss out. Enter Zombies Ate My Motherland.

The game takes a rather cartoony approach to things though, and rather than the realistic-looking horrors you might expect, you've instead got something that's less scary and more comical. That doesn't mean it's bad though. The graphics are well done, and provide a (perhaps jarringly) cheerful aesthetic to the entire shooting of zombies deal. Make no mistake though, despite the pretty looks, it's still a game about blasting undead into tiny little gibs. Well, theoretical gibs, as the cartoony effect of the game won't actually give you any such things flying about. Sure, there's blood, but don't expect the carnage that other games might bring to the table.

In this game, you're tasked with, of course, shooting down zombies. But it's not just a handful of zombies though, you'll soon be facing hordes of the undead scourge as they come in wave after wave after wave. To help in facing against the horde, you'll be armed with your basic gun, grenades, and other assorted weaponry. As you mow down (or blast apart, tear into, or other sorts of horribly fun violence) the bad guys, you'll pick up stars from their re-corpsified bodies. You'll use those stars to upgrade your weapons for even better zed-stopping power. The more you baddies you take down, the more stars you'll get, so be sure to get those bonuses to power up your abilities as soon as you can before the horde turns into something you can't handle easily.

On the other hand, that's not something you'll need to worry about too son. The game starts out easily enough, and you definitely won't struggle in the first few levels. Even with the most basic of weaponry, you should theoretically be able to get through without even the tiniest of scratches. Don't let it lull you into a false sense of security though, for that way lies the path towards becoming one with the zeds shambling about mumbling "brains..." Things will get pretty heated soon enough though, and you'll be frantically clicking your way through the game while taking out as many zombies as possible.

And that's it for this game. Go on and get to your browser so you can start playing Zombies Ate My Motherland!
