03.07.22 Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Kitchin Creek Overnight Camp Vlog

I had this Hike planned for Last month after I went down south…This was hiking season and the Parks were all full.

I had prepped for two months, going through all my equipment trying to figure out what I wanted to take, and how I could get my pack weight down…

When I attempted the O2L in 2020 I had a final weight of 46+ lbs.

That is what really cut my trip short in the end…The weight killed my shoulders and in turn my legs turned to jello by the 3 day..

For this trip I was down to 30+ lbs. with food and water.

And I think I could get another 5-6 lbs cut by my next trip..

I made a lot of mistakes, and I think I learned a lot by them…

I spent months putting that list together, and fine tuning it. This list did not include Water, Food, and that stupid expresso maker was almost a full pound…

I used a lot of new equipment for the First time…

CNOC bags, Katadyn BeFree, MSR Pocket Rocket 2 etc.

Also I’ve decided that my next hiking video will not have me talking during it. I think it will come out better.

I spent a long time editing this and trying to make it look and sound good. This is longer the my O2L attempt put together…

I think I was just so happy to be camping for the first time in 2 years.

I listened to a lot of Podcasts, and sweat my ass off….It was pretty warm…but for this was really good for my mental health…I just wish I had got into this stuff when I was in my 20’s not my 30’s.

Also if you watch this, I was really worried about the Rain…It wouldn’t have changed much….but I got lucky because the next couple of days it did Rain like 5” in one afternoon.

I really like JDSP and I want to go back and do another Overnight, but this time leaving super early so I can walk the whole thing.
