The moon is dark gray in the sky on Friday evening. Due to a partial lunar eclipse, less sunlight falls on than usual. The earth holds back the light. The eclipse starts at 6:06 pm, the highlight is at 8:11 pm and it ends around 10:15 pm.
It is a so-called lunar eclipse in the secondary shadow. That is the least obscuring eclipse there is. The moon travels along the edge of the earth's shadow and therefore receives slightly less light than usual.
