12The aliens continue to employ a simple, and highly effective, tactic against the meddling X-COM project; simply start so many fires, so close together, that responding to them all becomes a literal impossibility. Unless the Council decides to hand us more Skyrangers and Bases, we have to choose who to help, and those we ignore will rightly be outraged and may even reconsider their support of the project. Allowing panic to spiral out of control like that is just what the invaders want, and just what we can't afford.
The least we can do is get one of the missions and do it right, sending out a hardened squad using our best equipment and somewhat defensive, reactionary tactics, allowing the enemy to swarm against us as they please and be shot as they try to advance.
