8Our forces on the ground are heavily engaged in Lyons, preventing yet another wave of alien abductions and battling their frontline infantry in Operation Blinding Hydra. Our defense stance and veteran troops pay off big, costing the enemy soldiers and time and thwarting their efforts to harvest French citizens unopposed. We can only hope the other nations being almost-simultaneously attacked across the globe understand our tactical choice. (Or maybe grow a pair and start fighting back.)
We also develop and implement some working models of weaponry incorporating theorized military laser technology, and the boost to our firepower will be immediately noticeable, once we can mass-produce enough guns to equip the entire strike force.
