Work is necessary to live and raise a family, then hope to reach a venerable age and enjoy the moment of retirement in total relaxation. Unfortunately, however, some jobs can seriously endanger the life of the worker. Let us see what are the ten most dangerous jobs in the world.
Number 10 - Underwater welders
Electricity and water are not friends, but underwater welders have to work with both of them. They repair pipelines, ships, dams, and all undersea equipment that needs maintenance. This job exposes them to lots of hazards, which include explosions and extreme pressure. Since it is a dangerous career, the pay is attractive.
One of the biggest threats to underwater welding is electrocution. If the welding equipment is not well insulated, it will lead to a disaster. Most deaths in this profession are linked to equipment failure. Hydrogen and oxygen combinations also result in the formation of gas pockets, which results in an explosion.
Even a skilled welder is at the risk of drowning. A slight malfunctioning of your mask, oxygen tank, or hose is all that is needed for one to drown.
Spending lots of time under a high-pressure environment can lead to temporary or permanent loss of hearing, but a paycheck of almost $100,000 is enough reason to say put.

Number 9 - Veterinary Doctors
Veterinarians are doctors who specialize in treating and managing animals. These professionals provide routine checkups, perform surgery, administer drugs, and cater to animals' overall health needs. While many veterinarians love their job, they do not deny the fact that they put their lives on the line whenever they come face-to-face with their patients.
Animals are hard to predict since they are not as expressive as humans. Veterinarians risk getting scratched, bitten, or trampled on depending on the animal's defense mechanism. Broker Hub International, an insurance company, reports that 90% of worker's compensation claims between 2002 and 2004 were filed by veterinarians who suffered animal bites.
Veterinarians could contract infections from a sick animal when they accidentally pierce themselves with a needle used to inject the infected animal. A bite from an infected dog would cause rabies, and a cat's scratch results in a cat scratch fever. The fraidy-cat would not dare come close to this occupation because the sight of a Rottweiler could freak you out.

Number 8 - Deep-sea fishermen
Catching fishes that live in the deepest part of the sea sounds like a one-of-a-kind experience until you understand the risks involved. The popular show on TV titled Deadliest Catch was not to entertain alone but to let viewers in on the life of fishers.
Fishing and other sea-related occupations rank high among the most dangerous jobs in the world. Fishermen face a lot of unexpected occurrences at sea, some of which they have no control over. The worst part of the situation is that they are far away from medical aid. Should there be an accident, the victim has to be brought out from thousands of feet away before help get to them.
Although fishermen are trained in the act of swimming, life at the ocean bed is unpredictable. We cannot rule out drowning from the risks associated with this job. In fact, it’s the highest cause of death in deep-sea fishing.
Researchers at Oxford University found that fishermen are 50 times more likely to die at sea than other occupations. This figure is higher than manufacturing, construction, or the armed forces.

Number 7 - Mountain guide
From time immemorial, humans climbed the mountain for fun. However, some people climb to eke out a living. Mountain guides are experienced climbers that lead tourists through dangerous terrains. Even years of training in the job does not absolve them of the inherent risks associated with mountain climbing.
It could sound all rosy, but imagine guiding a client through a hundred feet above the ground and a violent storm hits. Working as a mountain guide means that you are continuously exposed to wind, cold, crevasses, icefall, rockfall, avalanches, etcetera.
The risks of this job have since been underrated over the years by not just clients, but guides themselves who first try out dangerous paths while the clients watch from behind. If the terrain isn’t safe, they try alternative routes until their clients arrive at the agreed spot.
Like pilots, they are responsible for the client’s safety, and this makes it scarier. Whether as an employee for a mountaineering company or a self-employed guide, the risk is the same.
