I don’t know about you, but some stories I hear about the sea really give me the creeps. One good example is the terrifying tale about the Bermuda triangle. Another is about phantom ships whose crew members disappeared without a trace. Even much worse, these ships sometimes turn up empty without evidence of a struggle. Yet, every passenger on board just went missing, never to be seen again. In today’s video, I’ll share with you some of those eerie stories that had left us with more questions than answers, especially #1. So stick around for that. Here are the top 10 most mysterious abandoned ships.
Number 10: The Mary Celeste
Many stories about the ocean very much qualify as mysterious. But that of the Mary Celeste ranks among the darkest of the dark, right from the very first decade when it was built on Spencer's Island in 1860. Back then, it was named the Amazon. Within 6 years, the vessel underwent a series of accidents that eventually claimed 3 captains. But unknown to many, that was just the start of something more terrifying and it all began when the ship set sail in 1872. That year, the “Mary Celeste” was to deliver 1700 casks of alcohol to Genoa along with 8 people on board. However, the ship never reached its destination. Instead, it was found to be adrift somewhere in the sea by another ship which left one week after its departure. Once found, the captain and the shipmen have vanished. The ship’s only lifeboat was also missing. And it was as if the ship was raided by pirates. But one thing was amiss; the cargo, the belongings and other valuables on the ship were left untouched! To date, no one knows why or what happened to the crew!

Number 9: North Korean Ghost Ships in Japan
Since many years now, the northern sea of Japan has been the gravesite for hundreds of derelict ships that veered off the track from North Korea. That alone is strange enough, but then again, not all the ships were abandoned without some scary sight. Dozens of dead bodies were found aboard them as well. If I’m not mistaken, more than 100 boats got washed up the Japanese coast in 2017 alone alongside 35 bodies. Most of those bodies, confirmably, were North Koreans, which by the way, were hundreds of miles away from their homeland. Yet, the dead just kept coming with reasons that have left many people scratching their heads since the strange sight began in 2011. Some faction speculated that these rickety boats met with such a fatal end due to bad weather. Well, I personally doubt that with that whopping number. Others believed that we have North Korean’s aging fishing system to blame. Or perhaps, they could be from defectors of the Imperial Kim’s region. But whichever the case may be, I hope Cthulhu is not behind it.

Number 8: The High Aim 6
The High Aim 6 was once a very active Taiwanese shipping vessel. And that’s about how much anyone knows about it when it was found drifting off the western Australian coast with tonnes of super-rotten fish aboard. Interestingly still, some reports later revealed that it left the harbor in Southern Taiwan Halloween of 2002 with an Indonesian flag. Could its mysterious disappearance be a gift from a mystical being to spook humans? Well… Anyway, the ship was reported missing in December of 2002 after several days had passed since the Captain radioed in. Before it was found, it took until January 2009. When the authorities did, all of the crew members were missing with no signs of any distress at all. Provisions, fuel and all other personal effects of the crew were still aboard. As such, the mystery deepens with no clue whatsoever as to what happened. Luckily though, one of the crew members was reportedly tracked down alive and well. He explained the captain was sent to an early grave. But the motive for such still remains unclear.
