The Mega Drive, or Genesis, was a console. Umm… that’s a bad start. Right, so Sega’s machine had some amazing games, and it was better than the SNES to some. Not to me, but to some. Even if I didn’t prefer it, I still loved it.

Everyone knows the usual choices for the best games on the system, so I decided to come at it from a slightly different angle that has literally never happened before (it has happened) - the overlooked games. The hidden gems. The Mega Drive’s best games you didn’t know existed. That sort of thing.

This is 10 of many, and I cut this list down from 30-plus just for the sake of time and my sanity - also because some of the ‘hidden gems’ are actually rubbish. Hey ho.

By no means is this me saying I won’t do an ‘x best: obvious edition’ - I just wanted to look at some less obvious choices for now. I’m kind like that.
