2:54:28 - wrap-up and what's next!
In FS, Wolf still plays a lot like he did in VF5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8xeSkLw0oQ --but they did change some moves that were key for me.
On the plus side, his Command Training overall felt easier, with fewer complicated moves with unintuitive timing requirements. That's good!
Also good, some of his (simple) moves were made easier or better. Forward+P+K, which in 5 goes to a small high, high, mid combo, kinda of redundant to P,P,K, in FS is a nice snappy forearm knock-down, with easy ground juggle; if you use it to combo with Sky High Shoulder Through, it gives better damage than I could find in a simple combo with that move in 5.
Other good things: back+G+K now does a second kick with G+K, rather than just K--so you can mash it out and it's much easier to do; it's a decent two hit mid kick. And due to the change to jump attack inputs in FS in general, his great up-forward+K jump kick attack is now much easier and more reliable to do--no accidentally doing a drifty forward jump instead.
But on the other hand, some of his moves that I really liked in 5 were badly nerfed, or changed in bleh ways. His down-forward+P+K in 5 is a low-lunging fist sweep with huge range--in FS, it's been replaced with a non-descript punch. His big lowered-shoulder charge was forward, forward+P+K in 5, but in FS has to be done on the run, meaning it's much harder to get off. To make matters worse, his new, replacement ffPK move is a horrific little shove thing (probably has a great use, I'm just too dumb to know what it is yet).
His multi-part "Catch" throw, which can give a pretty easy 70 damage, in 5 started with just forward+G+P (and two more of those and you're up 70 damage), but in FS is changed to the much trickier (for me : P) back, forward+G+P. (This kind of makes sense as fGP is kind of the default throw input and thus should probably be something simple rather than a three-part thing, but I miss that extra 20 damage!) Last but probably most importantly, his back+K, an incredibly long-range, quickly repeatable mid-hit kick in 5, has been changed to a single use kick in FS, which mostly kills its utility as a ranging tool--and I think might also be slower and of lesser range. Anyway in 5 it's an incredibly useful move, and in FS is more like an occasional surprise poke. They followed the FS plan of getting rid of all-purpose moves, thereby forcing the player to learn a more well-rounded play style...but darn it, it's not as fun for my simple brain.
He's still quite a good character and fun in FS, so it's not as though I wouldn't want to play him here--but for now, the way I play him, he's slightly easier to use in 5. I think.
