I couldn't get the game to stop dropping seemingly random frames here and there; switching the base emulated resolution from 1080p to 720p, turning off AA, lowering shader detail from Ultra to Low, didn't seem to reduce the frame drops significantly. Don't know if it happens on the actual PS3, and I'm not going to bother to check because I don't want to be stuck playing on proprietary hardware anymore. : P But I haven't noticed persistent frame drops in the other action games I've been playing in RPCS3: Demon's Souls at 60fps, and Midway Arcade Origins and Fighting Vipers both at 1080p emulated base resolution.
And I can't beat Tournament mode on Normal even as Federer. ;_; It starts off really easy but after 3 matches or so, the CPU turns into a killer, sitting back and just smashing balls wherever it likes. Sure wish I could hit 'em like that! : P And I don't really understand why the game doesn't let me...
Weird how virtual weeks go by in World Tour mode where there's no tournament you can enter, either because there just isn't one, or because you aren't high enough rank to enter the one available. A tennis game not letting you play tennis! And I just didn't want to do the minigames or academy exercises anymore; I like the Pin Crusher (tennis bowling), Avalanche (fruit collecting / giant ball dodging), and Court Curling (curling via giant tennis balls) minigames all right, but I don't seem to want to play them repeatedly.
The tournaments it occasionally allowed me to play in World Tour were decent fun, I suppose, if maybe a bit too easy so far. And my noob character can't play as well as regular Federer. : P
So, I think I'll go on and try VT4 (skipping VT 2009, a non-arcade game made entirely by Sumo Digital and striking me on first try as comparatively flat in play and presentation); my initial forays in 4 have had me struggling even more to hit the ball with pace, but I'll give it a decent try, and check out the minigames, anyway.
And then there's the original VT for DC looming ever larger in the distance. I *seem* to remember that one letting me hit the ball hard...
