1969 Barracuda 493 Stroker Build – Big Block Prepped and Installed | 4 Weeks to Moparty (Ep. 3)
Welcome to the third episode of the Big Block Barracuda Blitz, my countdown to getting this 1969 Plymouth Barracuda race ready in just 4 weeks for Holley’s Moparty 2025 in Bowling Green, KY.
In this episode, I kick things off by showing the freshly painted engine bay, along with the fully installed steering system and brake system. With the bay ready to go, I turn my attention back to the heart of the build — the 493 stroker big block. I clean and prep the engine for a new water pump, water pump housing, a fuel pump delete, and get the headers bolted up before laying down fresh engine paint.
The episode wraps up with the 493 going back into the Barracuda, but not without a challenge — I run into a clearance issue while trying to fit the transmission. Viewers will have to tune in next week to see how I work through the transmission fitment problem and keep the Moparty deadline alive.
Follow along as I document the full race car build process from fabrication and drivetrain prep to wiring, interior work, and tuning!
