We're back baby, and better than ever! And this hack is gonna be a fun ride. Bring it on 2018.

Today's hack is Super quote-unquote Mario World by 1UPDudes. This is a hack I played a while back and remember fondly. It's a really colourful and creative experience.

Right off the bat, you're going to notice the adorable sprite work. I've never seen this set of graphics before, and if you made them 1UPDudes, you did a great job. I love the style. It almost reminds me of the cartoony fun from Yoshi's Island but with it's own wacky twist to it. I've just never seen anything like it and I find it really appealing.

Another thing you might notice and like about this series is the storytelling. 1UPDudes went to some effort to make up his own characters and plotline, and it comes off to me a little like normal Mario in an alternate reality where everything's just a little bit off. I enjoyed this a lot too -- it's one of those hacks where the characters draw you in and the Message Boxes make you laugh.

Finally, you'll notice over the course of the series that the difficulty is right on par for a fun experience too. This isn't your Kaizo-level frustration hack, this isn't your "run through it without thinking" easy-level hack, it's right in that sweet spot where it's challenging but not frustrating. I can enjoy hacks of all different types, but I'm always in the mood for one of these.

This will be sort of a long series, which is good in this case because the quality of the levels makes it worth it. This series is also my promise to get back on schedule for 2018. I'm gonna make consistent releases at least for all of Super "Mario" World, you can quote-unquote me on that. Will the New Years Resolution stick? Time will tell. But what it comes down to is I really miss YouTube and I really want to give it more of my free time, even if it cuts into other things I want to get done.. I've been spreading myself creatively thin recently, and coupled with my extra work and busy schedule, YoujTube has taken a bit of a hit to the recording/uploading schedule. I'm not doing that anymore.

Ive being working on this hack for over a year now so yeah, its the best I can do. There are a few things explained in the Read Me so please read it as it states a few glitches that may occur, none that can break the game.

Squiggy's ROM Hack Romp is a series on Super Mario World ROM Hacks. In this series, I will play through SMW ROM Hacks that are submitted to me and that I pull off smwcentral.net.
