Hey friends, we're back with some more Action 52, and today we're focusingon Starevil, a game with a name awkwardly squished together and some hitboxes to match.

This game is a thousand times better than Day 1, but that says absolutely nothing because that game was completely unplayable with one player. The best thing I can say about Starevil is that is it at least a game that can be played. That's about as far as it goes though.

It's a scrolling vertical shooter, which is kind of a boring trope when nothing special is done with it, but a decent game, right? Wrong. This is the most bland version of that you'll ever find. Non-descript shapes fly at you as you shoot a weird bar of energy(?) at them to destroy them.

That bar thing is seriously ugly. I know it's pretty minor to harp on the projectiles in a space shooter not looking great, but seriously, that is nowhere close to pleasing. At least give me some bullets.

All that is enough to make it uninteresting, but what pushes it into the realm of bad is the hitboxes. My God, the hitboxes. They are just awful. You can try and squeeze your clunky vessel through appropriately-sized holes, but it's not gonna work. Level 2 is the embodiment of frustrating gaps that look passable but require way more precision than should be necessary if you're judging on the visual representation of the ship and walls and not the underlying hitboxes.

Oh, and the boss of level 1 doesn't like to spawn. Great job guys, keep up the good work.

Here's hoping the next game continues the trend. The first game is best described as "Unplayable", the second game is "Why would you want to play it", so maybe the third is "Limited enjoyment under the right circumstances."
