2011 Poppy Appeal launched 27.10.11
This year's Poppy Appeal has been launched by a host of celebrities and some young soldiers who have been helped by the Royal British Legion.
The charity is aiming to raise £40 million over the next two and a half weeks and says its important people realise they help the current generation of war wounded as well as the old veterans.
The Poppy Appeal has always been synonymous with the veterans of past conflicts, but the Royal British Legion is giving it a fresh face as it celebrates it's 90th year.
The charity provides a variety of support to those affected by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The focus is on helping injured personnel to recover and to regain their confidence through the Legion's Battle Back Centre for sports and adventure training.
